Nick’s always been a tinkerer. What started as an interest in understanding the physical inner workings of machinery turned into a passion for learning how technical programs influence real-world outcomes.
After graduating from the University of Michigan, he worked there helping students discover research opportunities before becoming a research assistant in the Autonomous Aerospace Systems Lab and the Vehicle Optimization, Dynamics, Control & Autonomy Lab, among other positions. There he focused on drone, rover and automated systems research.
After graduating, Nick joined the university’s robotics department as an applications programmer, where he built and maintained full-stack applications with Vue.js, PHP and SQL. He also managed a dataset containing more than 100,000 records and automated workflows.
“I love how open-ended web development is and being able to have an idea and make it explode in any direction with creativity.”
His background in conducting algorithm simulations and handling data processing has provided him with the skills to debug and manage websites of different shapes and sizes.
“A lot of the autonomy and program development and problem-solving from when I was younger allows me to explore here. I can find more creative ways to do tasks faster, better and in ways that haven’t been done before.”
