At a Glance: Simplifying a Diverse Catalog of Products

Client

WACKER Chemical Corporation

WACKER Chemical Corporation was founded by Dr. Alexander Wacker in 1914 in Burghausen, Upper Bavaria, Germany. They initially produced acetylaldehyde, acetic acid and other chemicals during World War I.

The company continues to specialize in chemical products for a wide variety of industries. They have an international reach in more than 100 countries. Their catalog includes more than 3,000 products that range from cosmetic additives to silicone adhesives.

TouchStone Digital has worked with WACKER since 2021 and currently manages its digital brochures and digital advertising program. The results of this case study are from September 2021 to March 2022.

Problem

The WACKER team maintains a presence at trade shows to highlight their products. The extensive lineup made it difficult for staff to understand and showcase specific items during events and conventions. The client wanted to simplify their product lists and provide an interactive brochure that prospects could review at their convenience.

Solution

The web development team at TouchStone Digital created two digital brochures designed as headless touchscreen apps for televisions at the client’s trade shows.

Our team was tasked with condensing and prioritizing product data to break down the catalog in layman’s terms and simplify the user experience. The brochures also featured a QR code that visitors could scan to pull up the app on their smart devices after they’d left the event.

One of the brochures featured home and industrial coatings. That included chemical products for automotive, marine, masonry, concrete and other applications. The second digital brochure covered chemicals for cosmetic and personal care items.

The data organization served as an effective method to educate trade show guests and WACKER staff.
