North Star BlueScope Steel is a steel manufacturer and supplier located in Delta, Ohio. They specialize in rolled steel products for the automotive, construction, agriculture and general manufacturing industries. North Star is a community-centered company that focuses on safety, service, delivery and quality.

TouchStone Digital and North Star BlueScope Steel first forged a marketing alliance in 2020. In the summer of 2022, TouchStone began managing the North Star LinkedIn and Facebook channels and took on the challenge of turning posts about cold metal into social media gold.

Problem

Social media was an afterthought for North Star. While they recognized the potential of a well-executed social media communications plan, their resources were limited. The client was unable to dedicate the time, energy or creativity to grow their following and create engaging content consistently.

Solution

The TouchStone Digital team crafted a categorized content calendar to reflect the values of North Star’s brand and organize the types of communications that would be shared with audiences. We partnered with our graphic design agency design2influence, to establish a visual look and feel for the posts that followed strict brand standards while encouraging engagement.

Our team raised the bar on North Star’s social media channels by sharing compelling visuals, attention-grabbing animations, eye-catching photography and dramatic video on Facebook and LinkedIn.

We focused on raising employee morale and strengthening the company’s regional reputation by spotlighting North Star employees. The photos and videos provided a behind-the-scenes look at steel production and daily operations at the plant.

North Star values community engagement, so we used visual content to highlight how the client stayed involved in local events and initiatives, including the Fulton County Fair.

TouchStone proved its mettle. North Star’s Facebook impressions tripled from 2021 to 2023 and the LinkedIn page almost doubled its follower number to over 10,000 in just 18 months.
